Nancy Mosser Casting was responsible for the local casting of The Road. Here's their local casting call:
Hot off of the casting for Kevin Smith's film, Zack & Miri Make a Porno, Pittsburgh's Nancy Mosser Casting has landed yet another major film The Road, coming to the city in late February. Adapted from a Pulitzer Prize-winning novel by Cormac McCarthy (author of No Country For Old Men), the film stars Viggo Mortensen and Charlize Theron.
The film's cast is minimal; there are only about 8 local speaking roles available and approximately 30 extras will be hired. As all of the characters are meant to have survived for years after a terrible catastrophe (specifics are not given in the story), all those cast need to be very slim and un-muscular. For men, the ability to grow long hair and full beards is a bonus. For women, long hair and wiry frames are a plus. Actors and extras of all ethnicities will be considered.
We also need to find a thin man of any ethnicity who is missing one or both legs. No previous acting experience is needed for this role.
Actors and Extras should be between the ages of 18 and 50. The preference for speaking parts will be given to members of the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) or actors with working resumes. No experience is necessary for extra work.
Those interested should fill out an application. You must include a photo to be considered.
