Most of the Lang information is from my mother's (Ruth Trask) "Up Till Now," a brief biography she wrote for school when she was 14 (1944).
Alexander Lang was born in Edinburgh, Scotland on July 3, 1750. He moved to Barnet, Vermont in 1792. He was a tailor and a farmer. He was a Presbyterian, but most of his children and grandchildren joined the Congregational Church in Barnet.
John was Alexander Lang's son (grandson?) and was born in Barnet, Vermont (?).
Florinda Lang was John Lang's daughter. She was born in Dalton, NH on August 24, 1839. She attended MacIndoes Acadmy. She married Curtis Dickinson and was Annie Laurie Dickinson Shonyo's mother.
Here's some additional information about Langs from Barnet:
I have a Mary Lang born in Barnet Twp, Caledonia, VT August 31, 1808. Her father was Andrew Lang. She married William Patton, born in Dumfries, Scotland, September 23, 1798, and they moved to Lockport, Niagara, NY. She probably died there June 24, 1855, and he moved out to Michigan to live with his son-in-law, M. Daniels, until he died in 1865. Andrew Lang and an Alexander Lang were listed in Barnet in the 1800 census. Don't know if this will help or not, but always looking for connections.
I suspect that Mary Lang may have been Florinda Lang's aunt, and I hope to do some research when I'm up in Barnet some day. Thanks to Tara Perrien who posted this info on http://genforum.genealogy.com recently.
