My grandmother died of TB in 1939. Later that year, my grandfather married his wife's nurse, Alice Hawkins. Alice was from New Hampshire, and had been born on March 1, 1905. Her parents were Margaret Davidson and Albert Hawkins. She graduated from Laconia High School and was trained as a nurse in New Jersey and New York.

Alice's aunt, Alice MacMurphy, lived with the Shonyos. Here's a picture of her from the 1940's - her cooking at church suppers was legendary.
