Why We Weren't at the Northboro Rod and Gun Club on Saturday, September 4

Since my brother, Terry, was turning 40, people were throwing him a surprise birthday party. Unfortunately for me, they chose to do it Saturday night, about the only night I didn't feel I could leave the convention site since it was Hugo night and that's the major night of the convention for Jim and me. And even if I could have borrowed a car to drive to Northboro, I was "a tad" overdressed...
Luckily, Terry and his family were able to come into Boston on Labor Day, and I took them to the Marche Move-N-Pick. It turned out that my other brother, Jeff and his wife Rachel had made a surprise visit to Terry's party, and Rachel stayed in town to spend time with her brother, who's seriously ill. She was able to drop into Terry's unsurprise birthday lunch.
