I'm a realist. I expected Bob Casey, Jr. to win the Democratic primary and he did. He had the power players behind him, which is a real shame.
The results of the 2004 election made me switch my voter registration from Independent to Democrat. There's no doubt I'll vote as a Democrat for the forseeable future. As stupidly as the Pennsylvania Democratic party has behaved over the last year or so, they're still better than the Republicans.
As much as I disagree with Casey, I am gravely concerned that the November election for Senator this fall could turn into a blood bath
for the Democrats, and dash any hope of getting Santorum out. While I don't want Casey to go to the Senate,
almost anyone would be better than Santorum. Hell, your local dog catcher would make
a better Senator than Santorum has been. I did not vote for Casey in May.
But, in this November's election, I will hold my nose
and vote for Casey very reluctantly.
