Black Ribbon Campaign Frustrated by the 2004 federal election? I was, along with millions of others.

So I did wear black on Inauguration Day, and I didn't spend any money. I did use the Web, and had 7,231 Web visitors that day. There had been calls to boycott the Web that day, and I had about 500 more visitors than usual. This blackribboncampaign page got over 2,200 hits over the last three weeks, generated 1 positive comment and 5 negatives. One person was stupid enough to flame me from his work account, which meant when I was buying plane tickets for a number of people for an upcoming conference, I didn't buy any tickets on Delta.

Rather than counter-protest the Inauguration in DC, I think a telling way to protest the election of Bush is to wear black on Inaugration day.

Turns out, at least one other person on the Web came up with the same idea!

Some websites have advocated blanking out their sites the Inauguration Day. I don't plan to do that, but I do plan to "dress" most of my sites in black that day. If you maintain CSS files for your website , just convert your background and color attributes to:

  color:#CCCCCC;
  background : #000000;

The background is black, and the text is a light-enough gray to make the content readable.

The Not One Damn Dime financial boycott also sounds like a really good idea. Just don't spend any money on 1/20 if you can avoid it.
